I like a beverage or three and this the exclusive label of ductape halo. this will feature many lofi songs.
Buttercup (2004) : Done as a collection of songs that became a 2 disc album of all improvised songs, recorded at their inception. Was living in Jersey City, NJ at the time. Had just moved to NYC and didn't know anyone, so i had a lot of time on my hands.
Had also just started using my Line 6 DL4 Stompbox Delay Modeler to use the looping feature. awesome pedal to have in the arsenal.

The song is about repetition, like a drone. Sort of like a daydream or fantasy. All these songs, about 20 in all, were all done with little thought, purposely to keep from dwelling on the structure. It was called "Finally... seething ethos" & "Past tense future profile". It is sort of like transcendental meditation. I do go into sort of a trance. because i done write constantly, i usually have short bursts of being highly productive and creative. I don't try to make it happen.
This music is simple and in its raw form. i personally like the sound because it is a total lack of production value. only focussed on the elements to create the music. I see the music as being a mix of folk, indie rock, punk, and blues, all just guitar and singing. nothing is tracked, all live recordings. oh and i almost forgot... every song is pitch shifted. recorded on 4-track cassette.
Here are a few other songs from the same collection:
By a String - electric guitar, distorted. wistful
I'm on television - begins with some dialog and u can really hear the pitch shift. talking about the meaning of 'past tense future profile' . also the song is about my feeling of the negative effects of television and an excess of over exposed media.
Not what I become - sometimes regret, other times i wish i could be someone else or at least be protected by the creative crafts i weave.
Down in the ground - getting in deep!
Enjoy!!!
